I thought it was awesome of him...he actually lives next door to my in-laws (I tease my father-in-law endlessly about being his new BFF, lol) he has a kid around 6 so maybe that was a factor? From what the father-in-law says he's a low key cool guy so I don't think publicity is what he's after. In fact, they live in a super woodsy canyon in LA, not the usual obnoxious celebrity lair.

I totally agree that no child should be at a midnight viewing of this, or ANY movie. But what is done is done. The parents are going to have to live with this decision for the rest of their lives and the guilt will most likely be too much to bare.

If you are at a midnight premiere for a movie, that means you are a huge fan of that series, therefor, getting a visit from the star of those movies after such a horrific event WOULD be cool for said fans.

I can't throw shade on Bale for this. Especially since he didn't announce it and make it a media frenzy.

I do think this was very nice of him to visit some of the victims. I don't think it was a PR stunt since there was no press. Yes they have to coordinate due to security as well as some are probably still in ICU. There maybe some that weren't up to meeting him.

Now as far as taking young kids to see an adult movie, I agree. I also think that movie theaters should be allowed to refuse to sell tickets to parents with kids under a certain age. For PG-13 I would say 11 is pushing it, but no younger and certain not a 6 year old or a 3/4 month old. Do they want their child to have hearing problems later or Tinnitus?

It is also very rude, because babies cry and little kids get tried and cranky. They will whine or throw fits which will disturb other movie goers. So no, no kids under minimum 11 for PG-13 without an adult and no kids under say 15/16 for R movies without an adult.

My husband and I went to see South Park in the theaters and we were surprise and disturbed that a couple brought kids in that were like 6/7 and 8/9 to see that. It is an R rated adult cartoon! Stupid asses.

Anyway as far as kids in the movie theatre - I went to see Batman on Sat night - the late show and there was a family with 2 children under 6 and pregnant mom. This movie was so violent and fucking just not acceptable in any way shape or form for a kid.

They had to choose the surprisee very carefully. They wouldnt want someone who was injured TOO badly. That would be icky in photos. And it should be a male, because CB is too hot to ambush a woman with. And it can't be a little kid, because they aren't supposed to see the film.

Someone had to arrange security and the ambulance (really? There are empty ambulances just waiting to smuggle celebs into hospitals?) and all that crap. You can't just go visiting any random person in a hospital, can you?

I agree with Evil Cupcake, and anyone who takes a newborn to a movie, especially a packed midnight showing, is an idiot. It's a good way to expose your child to Pertussis (Whooping Cough) before they are vaccinated, not to mention the flu, etc. An enclosed space full of people is risky, and you know those Batman fanboys will not miss their midnight show even if they are sick! Pertussis can kill a newborn.

Of course, some people do not vaccinate, but that is a whole other discussion for a different website.

Why would someone take a small child to an adult movie like Batman? It is too scary for young children. Pay a babysitter or wait until the DVD comes out like the rest of us responsible parents.

Yeah I read somewhere that the 6 y.o.'s family friend...another kid...tried to save her in the chaos. She couldnt save her because another victim had fallen on the little girl and was paralyzed or dying and couldnt move. So thats her life ruined too...what a memory to live with...I think the article said the friend was only 11or 12.

I feel terrible for the parents of the 6 year old that died. I think the Mom is still in ICU.
Saying that, these "parents" will have to live with their decision to take a 6 year old child to a midnight showing of a 13 or older movie because they just could not deny themselves the experience. FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES. I cannot imaginine living with that guilt.

The parents who take anyone under 13 to see this flick are stoopid. The imagery, violence and villains would be nightmare inducing for any kid under ten. The kids 11-13 might get away without nightmares and think its cool but IMO it still wouldnt be good for them. Too violent. I saw it in IMAX and I had a hard time processing what was happening bc it was so loud. The violence of it becomes overwhelming and dare I say...boring after a while. Bale did a good thing today though...I agree with that much.
