For the final night of the Republican National Convention (I think it was the final night, I don't know these things), they brought out a very special "mystery guest" and that mystery guest was American treasure and my new favorite pepaw Clint Eastwood who took the "mystery" in mystery guest to a whole new level by making some of us wonder what the fuck his speech was about.
For over 10 magical minutes, Clint gave a hilariously surreal speech (click here for the transcript which college theater students will be using as an audition monologue for years to come) about I don't know what, but then he really brought the theater and drama when he started arguing with an imaginary Obama sitting on a chair. It was some Grandpa Simpson yelling at a cloud shit and I loved all of it. I hope that after Clint left the stage, he yelled at a backstage water cooler for looking at him wrong and then when he sat on the toilet in his dressing room, he yelled at the roll of toilet paper for being so damn stupid.
There's nothing more that needs to be said about this, because everyone, including the real Obama, has tweeted about this and it's already become a full-on meme. The only thing I have to say is that Clint Eastwood went ahead and made my day!

So-called Obamacare was not a "secret" or "closed-door" thing. You need to get over that & start living in reality. It was passed just like any other bill is passed. Deal with it. I, for one, am now happy that children who are born with a disease can no longer be turned down by insurance companies for having a pre-existing condition!

Also, kids can stay on their parents' insurance until they are 26 (especially nice when you are out of college and can't find a job IN THIS ECONOMY).
It makes Health Savings Accounts impractical so you get to have real health insurance.
There are no longer lifetime coverage caps so if you get cancer that reoccurs or become paralyzed in an accident that requires many surgeries, you are covered and your insurance company can't find some niggling "mistake" in your application and drop you.
It takes 700 billion from Medicare to pay for itself by rolling back payments to insurers and hospitals that they have AGREED upon.
It also puts a lot of healthy younger people into the overall ACA plan to help offset costs.

Here is someone who hates the government yet accepted SS benefits for his father's death and used them to augment his college budget. Grew up in a wealthy family that made its living through securing GOVERNMENT contracts to build highways. Here is also someone who has worked in government working for Bob Kasten and Jack Kemp until he became a congressman. So he literally has barely been in the private sector and sucked on the government teat most of his adult life. His wife is a lobbyist who also got money by working with the government.
But his budget cuts taxes for the wealthy, cuts education funding, Medicare, Medicaid, just about any program that benefits the middle class and poor. It also jacks up defense spending because having more than 10 times the defense spending of the country closest to our defense budget isn't enough. It increases the deficit and by "starving the beast" pretty much lays out a future where the government only provides military protection. Guess you can't have the poors attacking the billionaire compounds of the near future can we?
